Pull the oil dipstick out of the engine and reinsert it firmly. Restart the engine and check for an oil leak. If oil continues to leak, remove the oil tank and sump and replace the gasket underneath. Weblridg45 looks like Murray uses Peerless transaxles on this mowers. Usually those are sealed units and do not require any additional oil. Take a look on this and see if you can identify your unit.
