WebMar 20, 2003 · Currently, UWB is proposed only as an alternate physical layer for WiMedia. The official supported physical layer is the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) narrowband system used in IEEE 802.11g. OFDM offers 22Mbps at 70 meters and 55Mbps at 10 meters, so UWB offers a bandwidth upgrade.
